Occupy the Debates encourages Occupations and other groups to organize events during the months of September and October that focus on:
1. Bringing attention to the restricted and false conversation that is happening in both corporate political parties.
2. Bringing people together to talk about the issues that concern them and the solutions they would like to see and providing feedback to Occupy the Debates on the results of those events.
The goal is to get people talking about issues and to understand that solutions are going to need to come from us, not candidates who represent Wall Street and Empire. These are important steps in building the mass movement that will shift power away from concentrated wealth and to the people.
Some suggestions for events include community general assemblies, teach-ins with discussions, canvassing with the Occupy the Debates survey and truth-telling sessions in which people share their stories.
If you are planning an event, let us know and we'll publicize it. If you need ideas or resources for your event, contact us at email@example.com.
